Dolly Problems! Help please!

Well, being someone who recently got Addy, I have noticed that she and kirsten are like birds of a feather. Their clothes just interchange so easily! I also am one who ends up pairing my dolls up with buddies. Like the obivous, Sam and Nellie, Lizzy and Lissy, and for some reason my AGoT 04 Kaede and Molly (which is kinda interesting considering Molly is WWII and Kaede is Japanese... but they've always just fit together). Even when I got Jess she just didn't fit with Kirsten and so Kirsten has just been kinda on her own (Jess doesn't mind it for what ever reason in my head). Then Addy showed up... and wham they've just got this friendship in my head (haha I'm mumbling)

My point is the dolls go so well together! I'd definatly recommend getting Addy with Kirsten. I have always been a person who likes getting more dolls than accessories. I like to collect slowly and only focus on the outfits and accessories I really like.

There has only been one doll I have wanted to complete a collection for and that is Nellie... so you can see where my opinion comes.

I think if you get Addy and Kirsten together you'll still have a good bond time with them because they just seem to go together. JMO!

Then add clothes as you want them, and last choice of all, add collection pieces just to get the "collection." In my opinion you should get Addy and don't worry about completing her collection if you don't like some items. I prefer buying dolls and some outfits I like than trying to complete a doll's whole collection. Addy is such a cutie, she has such a sweet face, I think she is a must have.

I think Miss_Nellie_O'Malley has a great philosophy about pairing the dolls.

Addy is so adorable and lovable. I would definitely get her at AGPLA. There is also something really special about bringing home a doll from an AG Place.

I have to agree with everyone else [img]wink.gif[/img] . I have debated this for some time myself, as I feel terribly decadent having several dolls. I started with Felicity and planned to collect most or all of her collection. However, I soon realized that I don't really have the display room or even that much desire for most of the furniture. Then Molly came into my life via a local consignment shop (I couldn't just leave her there, could I?). Next came Marisol who serves as both my time-traveler and my girl of today for the one or two AGOT outfits I can't resist each year (that will be a nice record of clothing trends over the years I think!). Most recently, white body Kirsten has joined our family as I got her for a great price and because I am head over heals for so many of her outfits. Addy is the next doll on my list, as soon as my bank account recovers.
I know DH thinks my *hobby* has gotten out of control, but my enjoyment of the dolls truly grows stronger with each doll I have added. I am just trying not to worry about outfit retirements, and I am focusing on getting the outfits and accessories I love the best. I was very proud of myself for resisting Molly's aviator and camp outfits just because they are going away, and now I can feel really good about getting her new skating outfit which I truly love.

I don't have full collections and probably will never have them. If I like something I buy it. So I say go ahead and get Addy.

As someone who has been collecting for over 16 years, I will tell you that I have 11 dolls. I have over 50 outfits. I have 2 accessories. (Felicity's Sampler, and Jess's Kayak)

I think it's perfectly okay to get the doll you love but not everything AG has put with her. Pick the things you like, but don't worry about getting it all.

So in conclusion- get ADDY!

If it were me (and I only get dolls and outfits), I would get Addy and let het share Kirsten's clothes, and just gradually get Addy outfits as you feel like it , on down the road.
But then, I'm one of the ones with no DD's to play with the accessories, so I only get what I like--I don't want to waste my limited AG $$ on items I don't want, just for the sake of completing a doll's collection. JMHO.

Bottom line--I'd get Addy and enjoy her AND Kirsten, and just dress them how you want to! [img]smile.gif[/img]

I totally agree -- there are no rules! We just buy what we like. We only really want certain dolls, and for the dolls that we have, we only want certain outfits and accessories of theirs. Sometimes we even buy an outfit or accessory that goes with a doll that we will probably never buy -- we just like the individual item. We started out exclusively with historical items but ended up switching our focus to Today stuff. Now we just mix and match everything -- they are all sisters. It's just a matter of personal taste -- remember, no rules!
